Have you ever been told a big lie? How did you feel when you found out the truth? Making matters worse, it’s lies; and they’ve been treated as unquestionable facts of life; taught to the world for the past 2500 years. When I recently learned of the truth, stumbling on it actually through my travels and related reading, I became incensed for the ones who have been victimized for those thousands of years. It’s an abomination against humanity still perpetrated today. You see, I’m white, or I always thought I was; and I, along with many more, benefited from those lies of historical fiction. Yet there’s more. We’ve discovered it’s lies that have been traced back to the writing and teachings of the Bible that have resulted in the divisive byproducts of supremacy, slavery, and discrimination. It’s a life of lies that, in spite of the facts, most take for granted and are faithfully and blindly passed from generation to generation.
In 2003 the scientific results of the Human Genome Project were released: “DNA studies do not indicate that separate classifiable subspecies (races) exist within modern humans.” This simply means that any person, regardless of skin color or appearance, doesn’t have enough genetic deviation to classify them as something different from anyone else. This is an earthmoving statement. White is not white, black is not black; people who we have been told are different are not. But that’s not what I was taught from birth; nor has the rest of humanity been under that impression; because we still talk and act about race and behaviors, and the superiority and differences of some over others. Meanwhile, without some other new supporting evidence, untold millions, perhaps billions of lives continue to be adversely affected by these lies that lead to hate.
Footprints to Hate is my 200 page narrative of a baby boomer’s journey to enlightenment when confronted with new scientific information that conflicts with what we’ve been taught. It’s my journey of discovery; connecting the dots of humanity’s behavior over the centuries, examining how our religious, economic, civic, and other contrived differences continue to keep people apart; and how mankind’s treatment of one another doesn’t comport with the truth. Considering we’re in a new age of changing demographics and technological leaps, the implications for our children can be horrific. It’s time to stop the lies that foster discrimination and are making our Leave it to Beaver dream-world into Freddie Kruger’s playground of hate.
Footprints to Hate is a compelling book certain to stir conversation, debate, and controversy. It promises its readers this: You will see yourself, and your fellow humans, as you have never seen them before.
